Photo shoot with Aurelia

My boyfriend and I had been planning to do a photo session with my roommate, Aurelia, for a while. So today Scott, Aurelia, Monica (my other roommate), and I went to the park for a fun photo session. Scott was doing most of the shooting for the day but I couldn't sit back and let him have all the fun =p

Here is a picture I got of Aurelia while Scott was photographing her from the other side.

Pretty Pink Nails

My niece, Courtney, turned three a couple weeks ago and my sister in-law, her aunt, told her that when she turned three she could have her finger nails painted. Since Courtney's mom has never had a pedicure before we decided to make a day out of it and all go get our nails done. It was a great day full of massaging chairs, foot massages, shopping, and eating- a perfect girls day out!

Here it is!

Peaceful day- Waiting for Beauty

Talk about a great day!
Yesterday I didn't have class until noon so I got to sleep in a bit, take my time getting ready and then head to class. When I got to class I walked in to see a sub, he handed me a quiz, I finished it in 5 minutes, and class was over! Since my next class was cancelled and all I needed to do for my last class of the day was take pictures, I had the whole day off (in a sense).
So I started taking some pictures in my dorm for my graphics project and decided that since it was about 50 degrees outside at the end of January I was going to go outside to take some pictures!
I asked my roommate if she wanted to go with me on my adventure and she gladly agreed. When we set off I had NO idea where I was going or what I was going to find but all I knew was I had nothing to do for the rest of the day and the sky was gorgeous. I love days where the sky is a deep blue filled with lots of white fluffy clouds. They make for the best photos.

We drive around for a while before I drove off the highway on a side road and found this....

By looking at the clouds I knew that the sunset was going to be a pretty one so my roommate and I decided to stay until sunset. So while we did that we killed some time and took some pictures of her.

After a while of waiting we saw this....

And finally!
What we were waiting for. Talk about a site! My roommate and I parked my car on a service road just off the side of the road and sat on the hood of my car as we watched the sun go down. We had people driving by staring at us; some probably thinking we were crazy, other curious, and some just plain jealous. One lady drove by and yelled out her window "I'm jealous girls! I should have brought my camera!! Enjoy it!"

I'm a sucker for pretty sunsets...

Glance- Photoshoot with Lauren

If you haven't noticed, this week has been my portrait week. I've done boudoir, engagement, self portraits and everything in between. So for today I asked my roommate, Lauren, to do a quick photo shoot for me. We had been out earlier in the day and she was wearing her sunglasses, a zip up hoody, and had this 'on the go girl look'. I told her, "Let's go to the park...and bring your glasses!!" By the time we got to the park we had about 20-30 minutes before sunset to get some shots to we made it into a quick session.
I've photographed at this park in the spring and summer but I was so surprised to pull up and see the lake as a sheet of ice! It was nice to see a change of scenery!

Here are the shots I got. A little attitude, a little gangster, and a little sas!

And last but not least, My photo of the day!

Breathin' Easy

Today was just one of those days...
This semester I am taking intro to black and white photography (film) and we did an exercise last week and left our film up to dry over the weekend and we had to go pick up our film yesterday. Of course I was the last one in the class to go get my film from the drying room and the only one left wasn't mine... So I had to re-shoot my pictures this morning and of course nothing went like I planned and everything took longer than expected.
Once I finally got everything done I had a few minutes to eat some lunch before heading to my classes for the day. By the time class was done I was tired, overwhelmed, and hungry. I stopped to get some food to take to my dorm to eat. Once I got to my room I sat down and relaxed for the first time that day and let me tell you, it was amazing! While eating in our dark living room lit up by our tiny little lamp I couldn't help but think that the mood looked like a scene where someone should be reading a book. Since I had such a crazy day I decided I'd do just that! Oh, and take some pictures of myself while I was at it =)

Day 25

Dramatic

I'm emerging from my comfort zone today. I tried something completely different than what I normally shoot but I have to say I enjoyed it! I asked my roommate Monica to model for me and I decided to try a little dramatic lighting.
As part of this 365 project I want to explore different kinds of photography and break out of my comfort zone and I feel like this picture did just that!

So here it is..

J+T=9.10.11

I met with Jon and Tanya yesterday for a themed engagement shoot. What they did was pick out a book from the book store together. They decided to buy a book with different cupcakes recipes in it. Then we went to their house and baked their cupcakes together while I played paparazzi =)

But of course we stopped at the park across the street for a few pictures that didn't involve flour =)

Here are the shots!
Enjoy!

And finally my photo of the day!

Boudoir session with Rachael

As part of my 365 project I not only want to improve my photography through experience but I also want to improve it through variety, trying new things, and exploring what is out there. As my first step to doing this I asked my friend if she would be willing to do a mock boudoir session with me.

After our session I felt so good! I was so happy with the pictures and I loved trying new things! It was so much fun to step outside of my comfort zone and try something I've never done before. It was a great session and I'm looking forward to more sessions like this!!

Visit to the 'huge house'

Today my my mom, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew were in town so I met up with them for lunch and afterwards the kids wanted to 'see where aunt Libby lives and ride in the elevator!' so I brought them to see my dorm and while they were in my room I took them to my roommates room to show them the circle window that you can sit in!

Here is Joe sitting in the window in a "huge house" as he called it, aka my dorm.

Ray Ban!

Today I was sitting in my roommates room having a good ole talk with her and her boyfriend and as I was sitting there talking to them, I told Spencer, "Don't move!" and I ran into my room and grabbed my camera and got this shot..

Lens Lust

Today when I was thinking for a photo of the day I was staring at the collection of lenses my boyfriend has on his shelf and thought of how cool it would be if we could make a set of stairs out of all the lenses. So we got all the lenses the two of us have and made a Nikon staircase of lenses. Of course we have more lenses than pictured, but since some of them are the same sizes we had to pick and choose our photos.
So here it is..

Day 19

Keys

Yesterday I had classes until 6, met with a friend I haven't seen in a while for dinner and then had a movie night with the girls. After the movie was over, Rachael wanted to show me a new song she learned on the piano so I decided to take my camera and get some shots. This is the shot I got!

January Showers

It rained today.... It's January....Welcome to Colorado!!

I was out at my Dad's house today and decided to take a little adventure around the farm to find some pictures. I came across this piece of tin roofing surrounded by old boards and had a puddle of water in it from the rain we had this morning. While I was out taking pictures it started sprinkling on us so I sat and waited for the perfect picture.....this is what I got

Pink and Three- Everything a three year old girl needs

If kids didn't grow up people would never feel old.
Every time I see an older relative or friend of my parents they always say "You're so big, I remember when you used to be yay big, you make me feel so old". I always used to think that they were just crazy, but now I'm starting to feel the same way, and I'm only 20!

My niece Courtney turned 3 today. And yes, I feel old. I still remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. Heck, I remember the day her brother, Joe, was born and he's turning 6 in March!

Besides me feeling old, it's been great to watch Courtney grow up over the last three years. She has to be one of my favorite little kids to photograph and I can never get over her gorgeous blue eyes! Over the last few months she's been such a character. I always love the age when kids are talking enough to have a conversation with you. If there are two words that she has used most in the last few months they would have to be pink and three, as well as Latay (their puppy), and big girl bed (which she is now sleeping in and is SO excited about it!).

For her birthday this year she had a pink princess cake that my sister in-law made and i'd have to say it turned out great! Great job Steph!

So here is a picture of Courtney watching her dad light her three birthday candles.

NJC Women's basketball

Tonight I went to Nichole, my best friends, basketball game and decided to take my camera along to get some shots from the stands. It was just my luck today that the refs stood in my way the ENTIRE game. So unfortunately for me, I got a ton of pictures of black and white stripes. =(

So here are the shots I got from the game with little to no zebras =p
Enjoy!

And last but not least, my photo of the day for today.

After their victory the whole team gathered to get a cheer. Nichole led the cheer by saying "Whose house?" and the rest of the team would respond in "Our house!" But every time Nichole (#15) yelled it, she'd lift her leg up for a little extra umpf.

I showed Nichole this picture on my camera at the game and she told me to use it as my photo for today and I jokingly said yes but after I got home and edited it, I decided that I love it! It's after a long hard game, the whole team is gathered together, laughing, smiling, and happy. It's all perfect! So here it is!

Serenity

Some of you may know the feeling I get about this picture.. for the rest of you, allow me to explain =)

I love my dorm bed. It's comfy, and probably the only bed I've ever slept in that I can sleep an entire night in without moving at all. I wake up in the morning and grab one corner of my covers and pull it back up and my bed is made. But the bed featured in this picture is my bed at home. Something about your own bed (not one slept on by other teenagers) is so...peaceful, calming, and makes everything carefree. Whenever I come home with all my bags in my arms I walk down the hall and turn to see this and all my worries are gone because I'm home.

Bubble

Since I've been sick I've been taking advantage of sleeping in on the mornings where I don't have classes right away but by the time I go to classes for the day and get back home it's already dark so outside shots are completely out of the question. I wondered into my roommates room to find this and decided to do some shots of it.
I loved the look of the air bubbles inside it.

Enjoy!

Day 13

In the Spotlight

My motivation is a little on the down side for the past few days because my cold is still kicking my butt. Starting the semester off with a cold really wasn't on my list of things to do. But ready or not here it is and I'm gonna start fighting back hard!

So here is the one thing that has been in the spotlight in my room the last few days (as well as the box of Kleenex, Dayquill, and Vicks).

Pharmacophobia

Two things to learn about me today
1- I HATE being sick. I know most people don't say "Ya know, I'd love to get a cold this week", but some people can handle it to a point. I turn into a whining machine! I'm constantly cold, I always feel like I need another 30 hours of sleep, I'm grumpy, I'm achy, I always want something cold to eat, then I get cold again so I have to have something warm again to warm me up, then my throat hurts again....it's a never ending cycle!! I told my roommate one time last year that I was going to ban the common cold! (Don't worry, I'm still working on it!)

2- I hate taking pills. Even on a good day, when I feel perfectly fine, I have to prep myself to take my daily vitamin because I hate taking pills so much. If there is a phobia of pills, I have it (and there is, I looked it up!). But even more than taking pills on a daily basis, I hate taking them when I'm sick. When I'm sick I feel like my throat is so swollen that I'd choke on a grain of rice, let alone a pill!

So today I grabbed my handful of pills and carefully evaluated them.

Goodbye teens

Well the day has finally come; I am no longer a teenager!
Today I celebrated my 20th birthday so I decided to do a celebrating picture! Celebrating my birthday with me in this photo are my roommates Monica (left) and Lauren (right) and boyfriend, Scott (middle).

Besides the fact that I spent my birthday going back to classes for the first time in a month, it was a great day with some awesome people! I hung out with my roommates for the first time in four weeks, saw other friends I haven't seen in a while, killed my cold to the curb- temporarily.. (it's starting to come back to kick my butt now that the day is over!), had a nice dinner out with Scott, and took photos with friends! It was a great way to spend my 20th birthday!

Kelly + Snow

Today my boyfriend, Scott, and I were planning on doing a photo shoot with one of his friends but because of the snow they had to cancel. About 20 minutes after we got that phone call, his friend Kelly called and asked if we wanted to do a photo shoot in the snow (one they've been trying to plan for a while now).

We picked Kelly up and headed to the park to do some snow shots. Scott has been photographing Kelly for almost five years now and you could tell that Kelly was used to the camera. She was an amazing model for us! She was up for anything and everything we asked her to do.

Here are a few shots from our day!

Of course Scott brought the Danbos along for the ride!

I took a picture of Kelly's eye to add to my eye collection

And last but not least my photo of the day!

Day 9

This is a shot I got while Kelly was looking at the pictures Scott took on his camera. I love the snow, her hair, her eyes, everything!
