On Sunday Scott and some friends and I went up to Roosevelt national park and when we left it was bright and sunny and I was wearing a t-shirt. By the time we got up there it was cold and snowing but the sun was still out. I've seen it rain with the sun out, but I can't say I've ever seen it snow when it's sunny!

Don't cry over spilled Mojito

On Saturday Scott's best friend Chris and I took him out to dinner for his 21st birthday. While we were there Chris got Scott his first alcoholic beverage and after dinner Scott went to take a drink and spilled half of his strawberry mojito in his lap. Chris and I couldn't stop laughing because little did Scott know but in about 45 minutes he was going to be walking into his house to a big burst of 'surprise' with all of his family and friends there.

My sister called me yesterday to make sure I was OK because I haven't posted any pictures in a week and a half!

I apologize for the very delayed post in pictures. Between my trip to California and a busy week at school last weekend I haven't had much time to edit and post pictures. Although I've been taking them daily I haven't had much time to post them.

I entered three photography pieces into the student show last week (and I find out tomorrow if they made it into the show or not) but it was the first time I framed and matted a picture of mine (besides a 4x6) and the feeling was amazing to be able to look at my pictures all pretty in their frame. I couldn't stop looking at them!!

Today was a lazy day for us and we didn't do much but sit by the pool and watch movies!

We called up my aunt to see if she wanted to meet up at the cheesecake factory and before we left I asked Rachael to do some modeling for me!

I have to say the cheesecake factory was AMAZING and I ate WAY too much food!!

Dinner with Joelle, Mike, and Nicholas

Yesterday we met up with my cousin Joelle and her family for dinner. Before we went out to dinner her son Nicholas was playing in the neighborhood with his friends. He was trying to show off to the girls show us how well he could shoot a bow and arrow and climb and jump out of trees. Here are a few pictures from the evening!

Another day at the beach

Yesterday was another beach day for us and it was beautiful!

Rachael and I drove down to Laguna beach to lay out on the beach and it was a perfect day!! Not too hot, not too cold. Just right!

We laid out for a few hours before hitting the shops along the PCH before heading home.

Here are a few pictures from our day!

And nothing is more beautiful than a lovely palm tree in front of a beautiful California sunset!! GORGEOUS!

And last but not least!

Nina, my brothers Rottweiler, is about the ONLY dog I like. I haven't quite figured out why yet, especially since she has stolen 3 of my socks over the last four days, but she's just so darn cute!!

The other day as I was walking up the sidewalk, she was standing at the gate like she was protecting the house and I loved her silhouette against the house lights. So last night I decided to get a shot of it!

Day at the beach!

Today was a day at the beach! And it was beautiful!

Although it was too cold to get in the water and even to cold to sit out without a jacket on, it was amazing to sit at the beach for hours and just enjoy the sea breeze!

We got to the beach at about 4 and decided to stay until after sunset so I could get some pictures and I was so glad we did!

The orange balloon in Orange County

I'm in sunny California friends!!

Our flight got in about 11 o'clock (just moments before the flying curfew of the city).

For our first day in California we decided to go to see all of orange county for a helium balloon! We got to the park and unfortunately they didn't have any more tours left so we decided to just hang out at the children's park there and take some pictures.

Hopefully by the time we leave we'll be able to actually ride up in the balloon and see all of Orange County (so keep an eye out for that picture!)

Until then, this is the greatest of my orange balloon experience!

Goin' to California!!

It's spring break!!

And I'm spending my spring break in another place besides Colorado!

My friend Rachael and I are boarding a plane in four and a half hours to go to sunny California! As long as I don't get swept out to the depths of the ocean by a tsunami, I will be returning in a week back to beautiful Colorado!

Stick with me this week as I may not be uploading pictures daily but I promise you, I will be taking pictures while I'm enjoying the warm weather with the sand between my toes as I watch the sun set behind the palm trees and the lovely ocean. (sorry, just had to rub that in a little)

Lunch with Leslie and Rylee

Today I met up with Leslie, one of the people I can thank for where I am today. I don't know how many times during my junior and senior year of high school I would have absolutely no motivation to do any more scholarships, projects, or homework and Leslie would be right there behind me pushing to do it all. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her believing in me.

Since I've been at college I have been going through withdrawals without her there to push me through it. It seems like every time I'm in Peetz, Leslie isn't, and every time she's in Greeley, I'm either busy or out of town. This weekend is the 1A state basketball games right here on my campus so since Leslie's husband, Rick, was going to be reffing the games, she let me know that she would be in town this weekend. This morning she texted me and asked if I wanted to meet up with her and Rylee for lunch and I told her, "let me check my emails and shower real quick and I'll be ready!"

I met up Leslie and Rylee for lunch and even though it was just an hour I was so glad to see her again! The last two years have been weird without having her there to push me through the hard times but I know she's always there when I need her!

On Tuesday afternoon I was talking with my photo teacher about possibilities for my next self determined visual communications project and we came up with the idea of childhood memories. I knew I had one place to shoot it and that would require me to go back home to take the pictures. I decided to make a day trip out of it yesterday and go home!

While I was at my dad's house taking pictures I saw a brown paper bag sitting next to his chair and knew exactly what was in it; salted peanuts (still in the shells =p). Every time I see shelled peanuts I think of sitting next to my dad at night while watching TV with a bag full of peanuts and a bowl full of empty shells.

Meeting with Dan

My RA, Dan, and I have been trying to meet up for pictures for several weeks now and both of us have been so busy that it's been hard to get together. Today my first class was canceled so I didn't have class until 2 so I met up with Dan for a few minutes before class to do some pictures. Unfortunately we didn't have as much time as I'd hoped we would because we had to get to class.

Five More Days

I admire my roommate!

Monica and her boyfriend have been together for close to a year and a half but for the last 4 or 5 months the only time she has been able to see him has been via skype from halfway around the world. Asher is living in Germany right now and in 5 days Monica will be getting on a plane to actually see him for the first time in almost 5 months.

I can't even tell you how many times I've felt selfish for even thinking about missing my boyfriend when it's been five days since I've seen him, let alone months!

Monica was laying on her bed today holding the bear her boyfriend got her just after she was telling me how excited she is to spend her spring break traveling around Germany and Rome! (And I thought California was a cool place to go for spring break!) You could see the excitement and anticipation on her face and I told her, don't move an inch....

Today Scott and I met up with his friend Kelly, who was helping Scott set up an account with a modeling site. Scott and Kelly were sitting on one side of the table and the whole time as I was watching them I couldn't stop thinking about how the back of the booth would make an amazing backdrop, especially with Kelly's red hair! So I asked Kelly if I could use her as a model and ran out to the car to grab my camera!

Adventure to Gross Reservoir

In high school I always went on 'photo adventures' as I would drive around the country side searching for a new picture to add to my collection. Since I've been at college, I haven't done much photo adventuring. My boyfriend and I hung out with his best friend and I suggested when we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do I suggested we go on a photo adventure, but I didn't know what I wasn't prepared for the kind of adventure we were going on.

We drove into the mountains to a reservoir they had gone to before and when we got there we realized that it was a little windier and colder than we thought it was going to be. This is my time to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the dark, or I guess I should say, I'm scared of the things that could be hiding in the dark. The whole time we were outside I couldn't help but think of a bear coming up behind us and we wouldn't hear it because it was too windy!

After a bit of the boys playing with the ice on the edge of the reservoir, we set up our tripods and cameras for some nighttime photography!

Jimmy Johns adventure

Yesterday was a crazy day for me. I started classes at 9 and once class was done I had to go to the darkroom to make prints for my assignment that was due by 6. I made sure to have the whole afternoon free so if I needed to, I could spend the whole afternoon in the darkroom, but I wasn't expecting to spend the WHOLE day there. I got to the lab around 11 and ended up leaving around 6:30. I was running on about 9 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours and all I wanted to do was eat, get and in bed, and watch a movie! By the time I got to my dorm the dining hall way closed and the last thing I wanted to do was go out driving to get my food. So I ordered Jimmy Johns!

I got a phone call from a guy who said, "Hi this is Jimmy Johns, I'm downstairs with Sydney's order" I told him, "my name isn't Sydney but I ordered Jimmy Johns" and he told me they must have gotten the wrong name so I grabbed my money and ran down the stairs. Right as I got to the bottom of the stairs I saw a girl grab a bag from the delivery guy and he walked out the door and all I could think was "She stole my food!!" I looked around the lobby to check if anyone else was there who could have my food and decided to go upstairs to get my phone.

I was in the elevator with the girl and looked at her bag and finally asked her "Did you get Jimmy Johns" and she said, "Nope I got Chinese!! =)" I thought to myself, crap, now I need to go back downstairs, but when I did he still wasn't there. I went BACK upstairs grabbed my phone and called him back and he said he went to the wrong dorm and he would be downstairs soon.

After our big run around I finally got my food and was so hungry I couldn't help but take a bite before taking my picture =)

Our teacher told us about this graphic design competition. I realized that my picture didn't really demonstrate the details of my design so I decided to reshoot it for the competition. I met with Joey and Casey at the DU campus on Wednesday for their engagement shoot. At the very beginning of the shoot I asked them to kiss for me and after that they just couldn't stop, I loved it!

They met on the corner of Evans and University near the DU campus about three years ago so they decided that the campus would be a close place. We spent a while walking around campus and at the end of our session we ended at the place where it all began!
